Game Jam: Spelutvecklare + kulturutvecklare = TRUE
Updated: May 6
It's time for a new game jam, but not any game jam; It's the game jam where we connect game development with other cultural storytellers!
👉ARE YOU A STORYTELLER INTERESTED IN GAME DEVELOPMENT?
We are on the lookout for writers, novelists, artists, illustrators and other storytellers! You do not need any prior experience about game development, but an interest in games and a vision on how your field of expertise can be applied into a game.
👉ARE YOU A GAME DEVELOPER INTERESTED IN STORYTELLING?
We are on the lookout for programmers, artists, game designers, sound designers or generalists with the drive to explore game development together with other storytellers from different fields. You need to have basic knowledge and interest in game development, but there is no need of prior knowledge about other culture practitioners fields.
Then this is the event for you!
The event in short:
- The event takes place the 7th to 9th of May
- Deadline for sign up is 2nd of May
NOTE! We will need to form teams beforehand and look to see that the skillsets are distributed equally. This means that you are not guaranteed a place in the Game Jam, but we will try to make room for everybody!
We will do this Game Jam digitally.
👉Things to prepare before the game jam
- Have a microphone available, if you do not have that, downloading the app to discord work just as well. (you will get more info after the deadline).
- If you are interested in Game Jams before the 7th, here are some videos and tips!
👉Our vision for this is to combine all the creative storytellers in Värmland and make great games!
👉You are welcome to join The Great Journeys discord which is the same platform we are going to use for the Game Jam :)
👉 For disclosure, you need to be 18 years or older to participate in this event.
👉An email will be sent out to all applicants after the deadline and we had time to construct teams, so please make sure you sign up before the deadline.
WHAT IS A GAME JAM?
""Jam" is a reference to musical jam sessions. Similarly, the goal with a "game jam" is to come together and make a videogame, or a non-digital (analog) game like a board game or card game. Participants rapidly prototype game designs and inject new ideas to help inspire and grow the global game industry. We share a common theme and constraints. We ask participants to create a game from beginning to end in a prescribed time."
