Game Development  - find a friend, build a team, make a game

Game development is a team effort. Of course there are solo developers out there, but here at The Great Journey, we believe in the team. Working together strengthens the game and makes the journey more enjoyable. By supporting people with different skill sets in finding each other and working together, we build a creative culture and strong community.

Community Manager

As a Community Manager you’ll build and develop The Great Journeys existing game dev community of 350+ members. Your focus will be to create engagement and events in an online environment (Discord) and help planning and hosting events (both internal and external). You’ll be part of a team of four including a Games and Business Developer, a Communication manager and a Project Manager.

The role involves:

  • Responsible for engaging and growing our community. 

  • Feel comfortable in social situations (online and offline).

  • “Be our ear to the ground” - listen in on how the community is feeling, what they are experiencing and what we can do to support it.

  • Be able to extract insights from the community and use them to support the project and reach the goals.

  • Pick up game newly formed development teams and take them to the next level of starting their own studio.

  • Feel comfortable planning, hosting and executing external events (for example Friday Stories) together with the team.

Who are we looking for:

We are looking for a person who can lead and inspire people to start teams committed to making games. The role has a focus on leadership, game development and community building. Planning and facilitating activities and events are part of your daily job.

Post Covid we will move towards physical activities in the hub. Experience of growing an online community is required.

Not mandatory but a great plus:

  • Experience with Discord.

  • Experience with Open Broadcast Software (aka OBS).

  • Experience working with Mailchimp

  • Experience of the game industry or similar

The position in short:

  • Fulltime, 100% 

  • Based in Värmland/willing to relocate

  • Kollektivavtal (collective bargaining agreement)
